Aveley v Hastings United at Mill Field
Ryman League Premier Division
TWO GOALS in two second half minutes ultimately sealed the Millers fate as their winless run continues.
The first half will not live long in the memory with Hastings looking marginally brighter with Russell Eldridge’s free kick striking the bar and later home keeper Matt Bennett just got hold off a threatening Ade Olorunda ball into the box.
The second half was a definite improvement and Ade Olorunda again went close, firing a header just over the bar, but with their only chance of the game the Millers took the lead.
David Knight’s free kick found the net with Clark Masters unable to get a touch on the stunning effort to give the Millers hope.
But it was all in vain as two Hastings subs turned the game on its head.
After 73 minutes Kenny Pogue struck a superb effort from all of 30 yards into the back of the net with Bennett unmoved.
And within two minutes the Millers had gone from having three points to none as Hastings got the benefit of a dubious off side decision for Ade Olorunda to wrong foot Bennett and stroke into an empty net.
Fraser Logan then added insult to injury with a third six minutes from time as he shot low past Bennett after being played in by the man of the moment Kenny Pogue.
